The holidays can be hard. It’s a time when might be easier to compare yourself to others in a myriad of ways, from what gifts you can afford to get, to the updates people give in their Christmas letters. Not to mention the worst of Black Friday shopping is all about fighting to get something you want but don’t have.
Take a moment to be still and grateful
Studies have shown that keeping a gratitude journal or writing down at least three things you’re grateful for everyday can not only improve mood, but it can also bring in greater life satisfaction, better sleep, and other health benefits like lowering inflammation levels. When life gets stressful or difficult, starting from a mindset of gratitude sets a solid foundation for resilience to get through the tough times. What better time is there to start a gratitude practice than during this season of thanksgiving and spreading holiday cheer?
